Retaliation

You have the right to exercise your rights and be treated fairly in the workplace.

Reporting violations of employment law such as discrimination and harassment by filing a claim or complaint against your employer or another employee is a legally protected action. You are also protected from reporting or refusing to participate in unlawful activities. It is unlawful for you to receive an adverse consequence for exercising your rights.

Common forms of retaliation include:

  • Wrongful termination of employment
  • Wrongful demotion
  • Rescinding an employment offer or promotion
  • Reduction of work hours
  • Reduction or withholding of pay
  • Unfair performance reviews
  • Assignment of less desirable shifts, tasks, or location

Employers are legally obligated to make sure you’re not retaliated against if you report unlawful actions. If you believe you are the victim of retaliation as a result of filing a complaint, I may be able to help.

Start by filling out the form below to tell me about your case. I will review the information you submit and let you know if I may be able to help.
